Public review set for Clark County Solid Waste Management Plan A ban on new landfills in Clark County, improved controls on waste hauling and disposal, and active promotion of sustainable and green building techniques highlight the latest update of Clark County’s Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan.
This 147-page draft plan is now available for public review and comment through Tuesday, December 2. The Regional Solid Waste Management Program will also host a public open house on Thursday, November 13, to share information and answer questions about the program updates. That event will be held from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Clark County Public Works Operations Center, 4700 N.E. 78th Street in Hazel Dell. State law requires counties and cities to maintain a 20-year comprehensive plan to address how public agencies reduce, reuse, recycle and dispose of solid wastes. This plan must be updated every five years. The Regional Solid Waste Management Program is a coordinated effort covering unincorporated Clark County and its cities. The Board of Clark County Commissioners will conduct a final plan adoption hearing on December 9. The plan is online at www.clark.wa.gov/recycle/documents.html.
